ViscoStar Firmware Update
Install or upgrade to the latest version of the ViscoStar firmware here. Or contact Wyatt Technology to get the latest update on CD. The release notes describe the improvements in the firmware.
Upgrading is easy:
- Download the update for the latest version.
- Establish communication with the ViscoStar either via the internet, USB, or cross-over cable.
- Run the installer for the update and follow the on-screen instructions.
Please note:
1. It is necessary to upgrade to ASTRA 5.1.3 or greater to use the latest firmware. See the software update page to upgrade ASTRA.
2. Before running the installer the ViscoStar should be freshly booted. (ie power off and then power on).

VISCOSTAR PRESSURE RELIEF VALVE
The ViscoStar is rated for continuous service at or below 100 psi (7 bar). The valves internal to the ViscoStar should not leak unless the system pressure exceeds 200 psi (14 bar).
This document discusses the addition of a 100 psi (7 bar) pressure relief valve that should be plumbed external to the ViscoStar to protect it from damage resulting from accidental over pressurization.

A very common challenge for ViscoStar users manifests itself when switching solvents. Unlike other Wyatt Technology instruments, switching solvents in the ViscoStar is not a trivial process but rather requires a very specific series of steps to be taken in a certain order.
