Dr. Stepan Podzimek
Professor, University of Pardubice, Polymer Chemistry Department
Professor Stepan Podzimek works as the head of the Department of Analytical and Physical Chemistry at SYNPO, a Czech R&D Company conducting contract research in synthetic polymers and related materials. He has been working in the field of polymer analysis and characterization for over 30 years. His research interests include characterization of molecular and chemical structure of synthetic and natural polymers using size exclusion chromatography, light scattering, viscometry, asymmetric flow field flow fractionation, liquid chromatography, mass spectroscopy, and the study of structure-property relationships. In particular, he focuses on the characterization of branched polymers. He is an author or co-author of over 40 scientific papers, as well as a book: Light Scattering, Size Exclusion Chromatography and Asymmetric Flow Field-Flow Fractionation.
In addition to industrial research, he is a Professor at the Institute of Chemistry and Technology of Macromolecular Materials of the University of Pardubice, Czech Republic, and a scientific consultant for Wyatt Technology Corporation.
