Thermal Field-Flow Fractionation of Aramides

Aramides

Polyesters and polyamides are notoriously difficult to characterize using traditional techniques such as GPC because they are hard to dissolve and may contain high molar mass constituents or microgels. Even when samples can be prepared adequately, traditional GPC offers no hope of characterization, since no appropriate calibration standards exist. Luckily, field flow fractionation (FFF) coupled with multi-angle light scattering (MALS) can determine the absolute molar mass and size of polyesters and polyamides.
