Copolymer Composition

April 18, 2018 - In addition to synthesis and branching, copolymerizationwhether in random arrangements or orderly blocksserves as a powerful tool for polymer scientists in creating materials with novel, useful properties. As recently described in LCGC’s The Column, three-detector SEC-MALS-dRI-UV makes it easy to co-determine absolute molar mass and relative composition for many types of copolymers.

Northeast Regional Office

March 13, 2018 - The Northeast US office was established in 2003 to give Wyatt Technology a much-needed physical presence on the east coast and has since grown into an integral part of our growing business. The location offers convenient access for regional customers to receive sales and service support, demos, LSU short courses and technical applications support. The office has a fully equipped analytical lab showcasing Wyatt’s complete lineup of instruments and also includes a number of complementary third party tools.

Are all exosomes essentially alike?

March 12, 2018 - Are all exosomes essentially alike? While proteomic, lipidomic and genomic content, as well as specific function, certainly vary with cell line and environment, common wisdom has held that the vast majority of bionanoparticles produced by cells generally have the same structure and pathway of generation. A tool for differentiating exosomes was needed in order to address this question.

Thomas Fire Update

December 18, 2017 - Dear Customers: Thank you for reaching out and keeping us in your thoughts while our region deals with the challenges associated with the Thomas Fire. While this wildfire continues to burn through portions of southern California, we thankfully report Wyatt Technology has not been adversely impacted. The air has been smoky but otherwise it’s business as usual. Unfortunately, not everyone in our region was as fortunate and so there’s a way you can help. A “Thomas Fire Fund” has been established by the United Way, American Red Cross and the California Office of Emergency Services to help those in need. Donations can be made through the United Way website at www.unitedwaythomasfirefund.org

Polymer characterization: viscosity is intrinsic

December 15, 2017 - The centrality of multi-angle light scattering to polymer characterization is widely appreciated. SEC-MALS with a DAWN® is the gold standard for determining reliable, accurate distributions of absolute molar mass and rms radius, without having to rely on column calibration, reference molecules that don’t elute like your samples, and assumptions about ideal conformation and column interactions. But once you have mastered SEC-MALS, what’s the next stage? How to obtain even deeper understanding of your macromolecules? And what are your options if SEC-MALS does not work for some of your samples?

Developing a Library of Proteins for Drug Research

November 14, 2017 - The abundance of protein drugs on the market shows there is an increasing demand for knowledge within the formulation of biologics, as Professor Pernille Harris, Principal Investigator and Coordinator of the Protein-excipient Interactions and Protein-Protein Interactions in formulation (PIPPI) project explains
