Separation and Characterization of Macromolecular and Supramolecular Structures by Light Scattering

Presented by: Ema Žagar, Ph.D., National Institute of Chemistry, Slovenia
Presented Live: February 26, 2019

Comprehensive characterization of complex macromolecular structures is challenging since no single analytical technique provides adequate information regarding all the different distributions. Hyphenated techniques, that couple separation by asymmetric-flow field-flow fractionation (AF4) or size-exclusion chromatography (SEC) with a multi-detection system, do provide detailed insight into such structures. A versatile online multi-detection system includes multi-angle light-scattering (MALS), dynamic light scattering (DLS), ultraviolet (UV) and refractive-index (RI) detectors.
