Featured Customer: Jason Todd

January 3, 2018 - This month, we are pleased to feature Jason Todd, a prolific user of SEC-MALS at Polymer Solutions, Inc. But rather than writing about Jason’s work and relationship with Wyatt, we think he tells it best in his own words. Be sure to read to the end and find out about Jason’s rather unusual hobby and family! “Polymer Solutions Incorporated (PSI) is a privately-owned contract testing laboratory focused on analysis of polymers and polymer-based products, comprising three labs. The Applied Chemistry and Spectroscopy (ACS) Lab performs a lot of classical wet chemistry methods, dilute solution viscosity, FTIR, NMR, titrations, and ICP-OES.

Featured Customer: Charles Diesendruck, Ph.D.

December 14, 2017 - Serial customer’ is not quite as chilling a phrase as ‘serial killer’, but still it can make us a bit nervous. We know that a serial customer’s research may be so dependent on Wyatt products that they keep coming back, again and again, to fulfill their need for yet another fresh SEC-MALS stack. A career may depend on Wyatt detectors; we don’t take that responsibility lightly! Charles Diesendruck, our Featured Customer for December 2017, is one such serial customer.

Featured Customer: John Matson, Ph.D.

November 27, 2017 - Prof. Matson’s research focuses on the synthesis of unique polymeric and supramolecular materials with applications in signaling gas delivery, tissue engineering, and sustainability. Current areas of interest include the development of materials for delivery of hydrogen sulfide (H2S), a vital biological signaling gas, the synthesis of cone-shaped bottlebrush polymers, and the preparation of new polymers and polymer blends derived from renewable feedstocks.

Featured Customer: Jon Pokorski, Ph.D.

October 13, 2017 - Nanoparticle sizing, protein buffer optimization for crystallization, biotherapeutic stability evaluation, critical aggregation or micelle concentration. These are some of the more common applications and uses of the DynaPro® Plate Reader, including the just-launched Plate Reader III. But, some of our Plate Reader customers are far more creative than the average scientist.

Featured Customer: Professor Stuart Rowan

September 19, 2017 - We are pleased to announce that Prof. Stuart Rowan is our Featured Customer for September 2017. As Professor of Molecular Engineering at the University of Chicago’s Institute for Molecular Engineering, Dr. Rowan’s research focuses on the construction and properties of structurally-dynamic polymeric materials such as self-healing materials. He and his group study metallosupramolecular and stimuli-responsive polymers, cellulose nanocrystals in biomimetic and porous systems, and reversible covalent chemistry.

Featured Customer – Professor Christopher Ellison

August 10, 2017 - It was our pleasure to host Prof. Christopher Ellison at the June LSU (Light Scattering University) course–held, as always, at Wyatt’s headquarters in beautiful Santa Barbara, California. As Piercy Professor of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science at the University of Minnesota, Dr. Ellison’s research pushes the boundaries of molecular architecture: he and his group create and investigate nanostructured polymeric systems for a wide array of advanced applications including photolithography, microelectronic device design, battery design, and general nano-scale manufacturing.
